Behaviour support that respects who you are and what matters to you
Active Positive Behaviour Support offers person-centred, strengths-based services for children, adolescents and young adults living with disability. Our approach is neuroaffirming, inclusive, and grounded in the belief that every individual has the right to feel safe, understood, and supported.
What is Positive Behaviour Support?
Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), is an evidence-based approach, focused on improving a person’s quality of life and understanding their behaviour. Behaviour support practitioners will work with you, your family, carers, providers and support workers to develop a behaviour support plan that:
meets your needs
respects your dignity
improves your quality of life
What does that actually mean?
When someone is distressed, overwhelmed, or struggling, it often shows up as behaviour. PBS looks deeper to understand:
what is the person trying to communicate?
what skills are missing here?
what’s making this hard for them?
what’s getting in the way of them doing well?
Because when a person’s needs are met, behaviour naturally changes.
